new anime

Last night, I watched the first episode of Samurai Champloo (recorded on Saturday night from Adult Swim.) It was very good. Fast-paced, intelligent, and it's amazing just how much characterization you can find in a show with 20 minutes of running time that includes three or four big fight scenes. (Good fight scenes, too--interesting moves and some nice teamwork in a tight spot.) Why can't American network television do anything remotely close? If anyone's reading this, this episode will repeat on Thursday night--check your local schedule.
